The Tourism Council of Bhutan regulates all tourism related activities in Bhutan. The existing travel agencies are registered with them, and they also fix the daily tariff rates. Thirty-five percent of the daily tariff goes directly to the Government of Bhutan. These funds are used by the government for the socioeconomic development of Bhutan, and hospitals, schools, and roads, etc., are built and maintained with the income.

The current daily tariff is as follows:

1. Individual tourists and smaller groups of less than three persons shall be subject to surcharge, over and above the minimum daily rates applicable, as follows:

Single individual – $40 USD per nights accommodation.

Group of 2 – $30 USD per nights accommodation per person.

Children under the age of 12 will be waived the 35% government royalty.

2. The minimum daily package rates shall be inclusive of the following:

a. government taxes
b. charges for accommodation
c. Food (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
d. service of guides
e. transport within Bhutan

f. riding ponies and pack animals on treks

3. The rates given above are applicable per tourist per night halt in Bhutan. On the day of departure, the local agents host obligation shall be limited to breakfast only and any extra requirements shall be payable on actual basis.

4. The rates shall apply uniformly irrespective of locations and the type of accommodation provided/asked for. These standard accommodations are approved by the Tourism Council. In few places there are luxury resorts and if you chose to stay in these, the cost will be an additional surcharge and will depend on the types of rooms requested.

MAKING YOUR TOUR PAYMENTS
Your tour payments and airfares need to be transferred prior to your arrival to secure your visa, bookings on Druk Air and hotel confirmation. Bank transfer details will be stated on your invoice.

Valid passports and an entry visa are essential. The existing tourism policy of Bhutan does not allow entry visa to be obtained from any Bhutanese embassies. In fact visa clearances are given by the Tourism Council of Bhutan only upon receipt of full advance tour payment before the final visa issuance by the Department of Immigration in Thimphu. Visas cannot be approved on arrival in Bhutan and therefore the approval must be obtained before departing for Bhutan. Your flight into Bhutan will not allow you to board their flight without prior visa clearance. At your port of entry your visa will be stamped in your passport.

Our company will obtain your visa within a maximum of four working days on condition you have transferred all your tour payments and also provided a scanned copy of your valid passport.
